Does Insurance Cover Therapy?
If you have health insurance, it pays to be fully informed about what your insurance company does and does not cover. Many insurance plans cover or reimburse for mental health care. Oftentimes, I will provide you with a “super bill” (invoice) that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. In some cases (if I am a network provider), I will bill your insurance company directly. It is your responsibility to make sure your therapy is covered and the number of visits allowed annually.
By calling the number at the back of insurance card, your insurance representative will be able to give you detailed information about your outpatient counseling benefits. Please find out if your plan requires authorization prior to visits, deductible if any, co-pay, number of visits allowed per year.
